History

Enthusiasm for developing solar energy in the Shuswap arose following a September 2017 program sponsored by the Salmon Arm KAIROS Committee when TRU professor Dr. Michael Mehta. spoke about the vast potential of solar energy, and the relative ease of benefiting from it. You can view his presentation on YouTube here.

The Shuswap Solar Energy Society (SSES) was formally registered as a BC non-profit society in November, 2017. The SSES works to promote, the use of solar energy in the Shuswap. We do this by educating ourselves and our community about solar energy and its possibilities. We are currently working to establish a community-owned solar garden, as well as promoting the use of solar energy on public buildings and private homes.
